PHRYGIA. Hierapolis. Pseudo-autonomous issue. Pentassarion (?) (Orichalcum, 31 mm, 18.69 g, 6 h), time of the Severans, circa 193-235. Bearded head of Herakles to right, with club over left shoulder. Rev. IЄPAΠOΛЄITΩN Asklepios standing facing, head to left, holding serpent-entwined staff with his right hand. BMC -, cf. 50-53 (for obverse). SNG Copenhagen -. SNG Leypold -. An impressive issue of vigorous style. Minor corrosion on the reverse and partially retoned, otherwise, good very fine.
