A lustrous and beautifully toned stater of Agathokles

SICILY. Syracuse. Agathokles, 317-289 BC. Stater (Silver, 21 mm, 8.46 g, 9 h), circa 317-305. Head of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet decorated with griffin. Rev. ΣYP-AK-OΣIΩ-N Pegasus flying left; below, triskeles running left. Calciati 9. SNG ANS 554-6. A lustrous example with wonderful iridescent toning. The obverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, extremely fine.
